Red Cross Volunteers, Donna Wuster, Past President Missouri Chapter SBC Pioneers and Mykie Sanders, Second Vice Preident Missouri Chapter SBC Pioneers, are two of the volunteers who answered the phones and helped raise over $1.4 million in a two-night telethon on Channel 9 to raise money for victims in NY. The Missouri Task Force One represents Missouri through its tireless efforts to help those victimized by the terrorist attacks.
The 62-members of the Missouri Task Force One urban search and rescue team are on-site in New York City, assisting in the recovery of victims and remains in the wake of the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center. The unit is one of 28 such teams on call for federal response to disasters. It is a division of the Boone County Fire District in Columbia, MO. An urban search and rescue task force consists of 62 highly motivated and expertly trained search, medical, rescue and technical specialists. With over 16,000 pieces of high and low tech equipment, a US&R task force can remain completely self-sufficient for nearly one week of search and rescue efforts.
