WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today announced that the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) will fund a business development grant in the amount of $54,709 for the installation of an elevator in the Charles Ferguson Building in Willow Springs.
“This addition to the renovated Charles Ferguson Building will make the many programs planned there completely open and fully accessible to the public. I’m very excited about this whole project for Willow Springs and nearby residents, and I know the community is enthusiastic about the new opportunities this facility will offer,” Emerson said. “Without the advocacy of the Delta Regional Authority for projects like this one, we would be hard-pressed to put together an effort like this. Thanks to all of the hardworking members of the Willow Springs community who united behind this vision, however, we will have a great new addition to our region in the form of this structure and the programs it will offer.”
“These funds will ensure all the residents in Willow Springs and the region have access to activities and programs in this community building," said Bond. "It is important the federal government helps local communities make public buildings available to all our constituents and meet federal requirements."
The addition of an elevator assures that the renovated building will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. When the building is completed, it will house more than 3200 square feet for programs and activities.
