RAYTOWN, MO - Senator Kit Bond today applauded Raytown for making critical investments in the community's infrastructure. Bond made his remarks at the ribbon cutting for Raytown's Gateway Project, which community leaders expect to promote economic development by enhancing the visual entrance into the community.

"With the right federal investments, Missouri towns like Raytown can be magnets for job growth," said Bond. "I applaud local leaders for coming together around this project. By working together we can ensure that the business community has the infrastructure and investments needed. Creating the conditions for job growth must continue to be our number one priority."

Bond noted the importance of BHA Group Holdings, Inc.'s decision to keep its international headquarters in Raytown, for the local community and the state of Missouri. The Gateway project, which will create a greatly enhanced visual entrance to the community, Bond said, was a major factor in this important decision. This project will stimulate economic development and tourism, increase safety, aesthetics and improve overhead utilities.

As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Bond works to secure critical federal investments for Missouri projects, including $500,000 he secured for downtown revitalization in Raytown in fiscal year 2004.

Later in the day Senator Bond met with the Hispanic leaders in Kansas City. Bond attended the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City's Forth Annual Midwest Latina Conference and emphasized the importance of investing in economic development and creating jobs.

Kit Bond is Missouri's senior Senator and served twice as Governor before continuing his service in his third term in the United States Senate.
